BRATISLAVA (FIBA U19 World Championship for Women) - Lithuania were taught a lesson in accuracy as they were soundly beaten 74-46 by Slovakia in the FIBA U19 World Championship for Women eighth-final.

Shot-for-shot the teams were evenly matched, but the tournament hosts converted more of their chances to keep their 100% record in the competition intact.

Lithuania made just 16 of 50 two-pointers (32%) compared to Slovakia’s 28 of 49 (57.1%) and from the charity stripe they were even more wasteful, scoring only 33.3% while their opponents sunk 75%.

Lithuania managed just three points in the first quarter as Slovakia’s Lucia Krc Turbova poured in five points to help her side to a total of 18.

This went from bad to worse as the game went on, with the hosts leading by 22 points at the midway stage and 36 by the start of the final period, although the scores could have been much better had either side made more of their opportunities from outside the arc.

Katarina Pindrochova lead all scorers with 14 points and five rebounds for the victors, while Marina Solopova and Nikola Kovalova added 12 each for Lithuania and Slovakia respectively.
